Moodlebox for digital literacy and Little library Update
Introduction:
This quarterly report provides an update on the progress and impact of the Moodlebox for digital literacy project implemented by Rural Literacy Solutions. Project Status:
During this quarter, Rural Literacy Solutions successfully implemented the Moodlebox for digital literacy project in Kanvilli Nuriya Primary School and Watania Primary School. The following achievements and outcomes have been accomplished:
Implementation of Moodlebox: Two Raspberry Pi 400 devices and 30 tablet and phone devices were purchased and distributed to the two project schools. These devices enabled students to access Open Educational Resources (OER) in reading and numeracy courses through the Moodlebox platform.
Beneficiaries: A total of 50 children from Kanvilli Nuriya Primary School and Watania Primary School have directly benefited from the Moodlebox project. They gained access to digital resources and experienced improved educational outcomes in reading and numeracy courses.
Improved Digital Literacy Skills: In addition to benefiting students, the project has also enhanced the digital literacy skills of teachers in the two schools. Teachers have received training on how to use Moodlebox effectively in their classrooms, resulting in improved teaching methods and increased engagement among students.
Positive Feedback: The implementation of the Moodlebox project has received positive feedback from both teachers and students. Teachers have noted increased student interest and higher-quality work as a result of incorporating digital devices into their teaching practices.
Challenges:
Despite the progress made, Rural Literacy Solutions encountered the following challenges during the implementation of the project:
Limited Resources: Due to resource constraints, it has been challenging to provide devices to all children who would benefit from them and expand the program to include all project schools. Limited funding and availability of digital devices have posed obstacles to the project's scalability.

Update on Little Library Project:
In addition to the Moodlebox for digital literacy project, Rural Literacy Solutions has also been running the Little Library Project, which aims to promote a love for reading and improve literacy levels among children. This update provides information on the progress and impact of the Little Library Project for the past four months.
Project Update:
Since the inception of the Little Library Project, Rural Literacy Solutions has successfully impacted over 2000 children who have borrowed one or more books from our libraries. These libraries have been set up in strategic locations within the schools we serve, making books easily accessible to children.
Achievements:
Book Borrowing: Over the past four months, more than 500 children have actively engaged with our Little Libraries by borrowing books for reading. This demonstrates a growing interest in reading among children in the community.
Promoting Literacy: By providing access to a wide variety of books, the Little Library Project has contributed to improving literacy levels among children. Regular access to books encourages reading habits and helps develop essential literacy skills, including reading comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking.
Community Engagement: The Little Library Project has not only benefited individual children but has also fostered community engagement. Parents, teachers, and community members have shown support and involvement in encouraging children to utilize the libraries and develop a passion for reading.

Moodlebox Box for Digital Literacy in Project Schools: Progress Report
Introduction:
This progress report gives an update on the Moodlebox box for digital literacy implementation in two of our project schools. The project's goal is to give students access to digital literacy tools and materials that will help them enhance their academic performance and prepare them for future employment opportunities.
Current Status of the Project:
We have purchased two Raspberry Pi 400 devices, as well as 30 tablet and phone devices, since the project began. These devices have been handed to the two project schools, and teachers have been educated on how to use the Moodlebox box in their classrooms for digital literacy. Students are currently using the gadgets in their classrooms, and we have received great feedback from both teachers and students.
Achievements:
Since its inception, the project has reached several significant milestones. These are some examples:
Purchase and distribution of digital gadgets: We purchased two Raspberry Pi 400 machines as well as 30 tablet and phone devices for distribution to project schools. This has given pupils access to digital literacy resources that they would not have had otherwise.

Conclusion:
Since its inception, the Moodlebox box for digital literacy project has achieved good development. We provided digital devices to the project schools and taught teachers on how to properly use them in the classroom. We have also received great feedback on the effectiveness of the gadgets from teachers and kids. We will continue to work to overcome the project's issues, and we are certain that we will continue to improve kids' digital literacy skills.
Project Report: 2000 Reading and Workbooks Donated to Project Schools
Introduction: The goal of this effort is to donate 2000 reading and work books to community needy schools. The project's goal is to develop kids' reading skills and offer them with educational tools to help them complete their schoolwork.
Donation Details:
2000 books were donated.
There are 1000 reading books and 1000 work books.
Recipient schools: Seven project schools in northern Ghana's Kumbungu and Sagnarigu districts.
Dates of donation: January 18th - 27th, 2023
Process of Distribution:
On January 17th -27th 2023, the books were given to the seven project schools. The RLS team went to each school and distributed the books.
Impact:
The donation of 2000 reading and work books has benefited the kids' education and academic achievement in the project schools. Students now have access to a variety of instructional tools that will assist them in improving their reading abilities and completing their schoolwork. Furthermore, the donation has encouraged pupils to read and participate in academic activities, which will help them achieve academic achievement overall.
Conclusion:
A successful endeavor was the donation of 2000 reading and work books to project schools. Our company is dedicated to enhancing students' educational and academic performance, and we are proud to have made a difference in the lives of so many youngsters. In the future, we will continue to help the project schools and other underprivileged areas.
Next Steps:
Moodlebox to Promote Digital Literacy
We are excited to announce that Moodlebox, an innovative platform for digital literacy, will be introduced in our project schools this year. This fascinating new tool will enable our students to broaden their knowledge and abilities in a fun and dynamic environment, and we feel it will have a significant impact on their future success.
We are truly appreciative for your generosity in allowing us to deliver this cutting-edge equipment to the youngsters who need it the most. Our kids will have access to a multitude of educational tools and possibilities thanks to Moodlebox, and we are convinced that they will prosper as a result.

This year Rural Literacy Solutions helped rural students increase their reading, writing, speaking and comprehension abilities,as well as build their confidence and commitment towards school. Acting on one of our strategic priorities to provide book access to children in underserved communities, we donated 1500 library books to our little libraries. We also printed 2000 customized exercise books and donated to kids in our partner schools to help them with their academic needs.
We also launched liquid soap making training for girls in our partner schools to help our partner school children gets soap for their hand washing needs and also to empower the girls in the skill of liquid soap making. 15 girls were trained with the skills of making liquid soap in our pilot project at Kanvilli Nuriya Primary School. We also donated 100 insecticides treated mosquito nets to two of our partner schools to protect against mosquito bites this raining season.

We extend our deepest gratitude for your passion, commitment, and resources in helping us eradicate child illiteracy in Northern Ghana. We couldn't have done it without all of you.
We are almost getting to the end of the year and our annual report for the year will be out in October 2022. Before the release of our annual report we will like to share some update to you. In Northern Ghana we are currently in the raining season . A season where there is high mosquitoes breed and hence high malaria cases. Which results in low school attendance in the rural communities. In order to prevent our beneficiaries and communities from mosquito bites and Malaria ,our team decided to donate 100 insecticides treated mosquito nets to two(2) of our partner schools to protect the kids from mosquito bites and we are happy to report that we have had low cases of malaria from those schools since we distributed the nets and the kids are sleeping under it and we are hoping to donate more nets in the coming year to cover all the kids of our partner schools. Our Literacy Support program and little libraries are running effectively and the number of kids borrowing books from the libraries is encouraging. More updates on our Libraries and Literacy support will be on our annual report next month.
