Complete safewater project for 168 rural learners

Project Report | Feb 7, 2023
It's a new year, new goals and renewed hope.

By Nqobile Nkiwane | Senior Programs Officer

Greetings dear friends of FAWEZI and compliments of the season.

We are happy to send you our first report this 2023. The first update is that we still need more resources to complete our safe water project at our target school. It is a new year; the school has enrolled new learners whilst some have left after completing their Ordinary level.  We are back again to request your support and provide safe water to the new and old learners at the school.

When the project is complete, the surrounding community and all school staff will equally benefit from the safe and reliable water supply.  We implore you to continue to support this worthy cause so that teachers and all school staff will stay longer at the school. The current high staff turnover due to water challenges has long-term impacts on the quality of education for the children.

FAWEZI had anticipated completing this project by December 2022, but we did not meet this target as we had not met our intended amount of money. Despite this, we are hopeful that with your usual support, we will raise enough to complete the project by mid-2023. Our intention is to support the school with pipes, water tanks, and taps to channel safe water into the schoolyard and ultimately reduce the time lost traveling longer distances to access water for drinking and other uses.

The absence of clean and running water at the school, is negatively affecting both teachers and learners as they all need readily available water for drinking, cooking, cleaning, and ablution. We continue to count on you to help us realize the dream of safe running water at this school.

FAWEZI believes that you and us share the belief and hope that this water project is indeed possible.  We look forward to your continued support, Together We Can!

Once again, from all of us here at FAWEZI- Thank you for your continued support.
