This project will send back 50 out of school girls into school through formal and Non Formal education. The project will also purchase uniforms, stationery, sanitary pads and also pay examination fees and provide career guidance and mentorship to the girls. The target is girls who have dropped out of school due to pregnancy and other reasons including lack of school and examination fees.
COVID -19 pandemic and the prolonged school closure have threatened the gains made in girl's and women's education in Zimbabwe since the end of March 2020. This has long-lasting impacts on girl's and women's future opportunities. According to ZimFact (2022), there is currently a school dropout crisis in Zimbabwe with girls being more affected. Some fell pregnant and dropped out of school, some were forced out of school due to economic hardships caused by the closure on the informal sector.
The project will track track 50 out of school girls and bring them back to school through formal and Non Formal Education. The girls will receive tuition fee, examination fees, complete uniforms, sanitary pads and stationery. Coaching on life skills, decision making and career guidance will also be provided for them to increase resilience against stigma of teen moms and drop outs .
The project will allow 50 out of school girls with a basic education and certificate enabling them to advance into careers of their choice. It will provide empower them to be productive members of their families, communities, and society at large. It will increase their ability to fight poverty, reduce their chances of early marriage, pregnancies, and other vulnerabilities that come along with lacking education and information. These girls will be able to contribute to development too.
