Ending Period Poverty in Busoga report- July 2026
By Ian Calvin Waiswa | Team Leader
With the generous support of GlobalGiving donors, we carried out another round of the menstrual health education and hygiene awareness this reporting period. Our goal stayed the same as always; to give girls the knowledge, confidence, and products they need to stay in school and manage their periods with dignity. We paired practical menstrual health education with the distribution of menstrual hygiene kits to girls who needed them most, helping remove one more barrier to school attendance.
The session with the adolescent girls and young women brought up the need for girls to understand their emotional well being while on their periods. This was further discussed with the school staff that girls turn to in times of emergencies. The teachers appreciated being involved in these conversations because often times they are left out and yet in their own words ' learning never stops'.

March 2026 Quater Status report
By Ian Calvin Waiswa | Team Leader
The SSPP in this quater did not receive funding for this project.
Although the project experienced funding limitations during the reporting period, SSPP continued to maintain contact with beneficiary households through targeted monitoring visits. The follow-up exercise with five households demonstrated that the reusable menstrual pads are still being used and remain beneficial to the girls.
The visits also provided an opportunity to reinforce good hygiene practices and better understand the day-to-day realities faced by the beneficiaries.
Moving forward, SSPP aims to expand monitoring activities, provide refresher sensitization on menstrual hygiene management, and reach more girls within the Busoga region once additional funding becomes available. Continued support will be essential to sustain the positive impact of the project and ensure that girls can manage menstruation safely and confidently.

Ending Period Poverty in Busoga. Our First Step, Thanks to You!
Last week, the Students Support and Philanthropy Program (SSPP) received its first-ever donation fromGlobalGiving, following the incredible support from donors who participated in our online fundraiser that ran through September 30th, 2025.
Last weekend, we proudly turned that generosity into impact!
Our team held the first training session to end period poverty in Busoga, reaching 30 girls with practical skills, open conversations on menstrual health, and the distribution of menstrual hygiene products donated through the GlobalGiving campaign.
The day was filled with hope, knowledge, and empowerment, reaffirming our belief that no girl should miss school or feel left behind because of her period.
We are deeply grateful to our donors, partners, and community members who made this possible. But this is only the beginning, we still need your help to reach more girls in Busoga through our now monthly menstrual health and hygiene awareness training.
Join us in the movement to end period poverty:
Every dollar counts.
Together, we can create a world where every girl thrives with dignity and confidence.
