It is URGENT now!
It is certainly URGENT, when it affects the very air that we breath.
Northern parts of Thailand has been hit by severe PM2.5 pollution over the past several months due to the dry weather, burning of farm waste and forest fires, both in Thailand and in neighbouring countries
PM2.5 refers to dust particles that are 2.5 micrometres or smaller in diameter that can be easily inhaled. Long-term inhalation of such fine particles has been linked to many chronic diseases, including acute lung and heart problems.
Although the World Health Organisation sets the safe limit of PM2.5 at 12micrograms per cubic metre of air [μg/m3], Thailand authorities consider 50μg/m3 as still within the safe limits.
Wildfires and haze in the upper North has started to impact people's health in six provinces: Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Lampang, Mae Hong Son, Tak and Phayao.
According to the local news agency, Bangkok Post, Chiang Mai was the most polluted city on earth, with about 30,000 people being hospitalised from January to March!

Because of the worsening air pollution, our Foundation needed to check how our partners and volunteers are faring especially those in Chiangrai, Phayao and Chiangmai.
Surachai, one of our clients said, "I have been unwell because of the poor air here and because of that I have not been able to find part-time work to help pay for the utility bills."
We found out that a number of them, too, had fallen ill due to the poor air quality.
In order to quickly provide emergency measures for a small village school in Phayao, the Foundation decide to send disposable and re-useable masks and other basic supplements and medicine to the 120 children and teachers there.
Meanwhile, another village school (population of around 150 children and adults) in Doi Saket, Chiangmai, are also in need of the same.
The Foundation will be grateful for any help that kind donors can contribute to bring relief to the affected kids.
We thank all donors who have so generously assisted the needy together with our Foundation and look forward a lasting relationship as we help to make this world a better place.
Best regards,
Vena
