Tireless Help for a Hardy Community
Wang Thong district in the province of Phitsanuloke lies by the river bank and because of its location, will see the river overflow during rainy seasons. Being in a low-lying area, the community that lives there see flooding annually in their land where their houses are built.
The waters from the overflow banks tend to stay stagnant for around 3 months before water level drops and it flows back to the river and land becomes dry and walkable by foot.
The residents in the community have stayed in that area for many generations and are generally poor with many seniors left home to look after their grandchildren, whose parents have gone to look for jobs in the cities. This hardy community have little choice in where they can stay, as to move or to sell their flood-prone land are formidable options.
This year our Volunteer Saengchan sought out those whose families who are in need, which included granny Thurian Boonmad, who was delighted to be a receipient of help from our Foundation, family of Mr Prateep (who is disabled and unable to get out of his home) and his siblings who also live on the same land, but whose ground floor kitchen-living area toilet was unuseable for about 3 months while the waters slowly subsided.
The Foundation is grateful for volunteers, partners and donors who tirlessly seek out the unfortuanate victims to support them in times of their need.
Any feedback or comments to help us improve our reach to the underpriviledged is appreciated.
As Christmas approaches and 2023 is just round the bend, may we in our Foundation wish all donors, volunteers and patners...
A Joyous Christmas and a Blessed New Year!!
