Some Things Never Change

By Shana Greene | Executive Director

Thank you for donating to Empowering Women Period.and to those who are subscribers, a big hug goes out to you especially.

What never changes is a girls need for sanitary pads. This is as intimate as you can get in helping a girl have more confidence. Since girls have no money of their own, the burden of buying pads is substantial. While cloth pads can be used, they are not hygienic and can be hazardous to health in areas where water and soap are at a premium.

The pads we buy are purchased from the pad companies we support where vulnerable women earn a living making biodegradable pads. Buying from the sanitary pad companies is a win win for all. Girls receive pads and the women earn a living.

This last month has been hard for so many of us and so we are grateful to you to continue the support. Supporting sanitary pads is an act of love, plain and simple. The photos attached are from the last batch that we sent being distributed in Kenya through Common Ground for Africa and Dandelion who serve young women with public health information and counseling.

We have no photos for Mukti for this month. We did send funds to pay the salaries of the women who had escaped from the red light district. Te pads are being distributed through New Light in the poorest regions.

Thank you!
