The local youth counselors of ECCA from Mechinagar Municipality (around 460 km east of Kathmandu, in Jhapa district) organized orientation program on safe drinking water and water source cleanliness at Devisthan Jaleshwor Dham, a nearby cultural heritage site surrounded by natural water sources. The objective was to raise awareness on anti-littering, water source conservation and maintaining water quality.
Coordination was done with the local "Shree Devisthan Jaleshwor Dham Committee", which is working for the conservation of the heritage site. 15 members of this committee also joined the program. At the end of the program, clean-up of the area was done and two dustbins (20 liters capacity) and brooms were provided to the committee.
The support from ECCA youths encouraged the local people to join the community-based initiatives.
