Hello Donors,
Timeout4Africa Foundation continues to spread its mission all over Nigeria. In March our team made it all the way to Enugu in Eastern Nigeria. We partnered with Coach Chidozie and his team at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium grounds for our " Growing the Game" series with 100 school kids. Our team presented Coach Chidozie with 100 T shirts, 4 basketballs, and 10 pairs of basketball shoes for the 2 day Clinic, The clinic was an instructional clinic where kids were taught life skills and fundamental basketball skills. The students were encouraged to be good citizens and stay in school, and to practice the spirit of sportsmanship when they are playing sports.
One of our student athlete Ugo was very trilled to have been selected as one of the Elite campers. He received a pair of basketball shoes and a school bag. He thanked the sponsors and coaches a great event and promised to do well in school and still make time to play basketball.

This year, our basketball clinic was extended to an entire week of activities again. We had over 500 kids and 15 secondary schools compete and attend the educational clinic throughout the week. Over 450 kids participated in the grand finale and award presentation ceremony. Participants learn the basics skills of basketball and were encouraged to stay in school and be good citizens. All attendees received a TimeOut4Africa drawstring bag with school supplies. Competitions included interschool competition, free throw contest, 3 on 3 contests and 3 pointers. All winners received game jerseys, basketball sneakers, and basketballs. Trophies were awarded to the most improved player, most valuable player, and the winning secondary school. Additionally, over 300 Time Out 4Africa t-shirts were shared with parents, teachers, and community spectators.

In November during the clinic week, We identified about 40 school boys of the ages between 9 - 12 years, to join our juniors elite team. These kids meet once a month with local coaches and some few volunteer parents to work on both life and basketball skills. We are happy to inform everyone the we see tremendous improvement on and off the basketball courts. During the month of August we ran clinics and matches for the kids and at the end selected the best 12 players. These 12 players will represent Minna in the upcoming inter city championship.
We are also very happy to tell everyone that another student, Gideon, from our program has arrived in New Mexico, USA to attend junior college on an athletic scholarship. We will keep you informed on his progress in his school work and his performance with the school basketball team.
