Invitation 5th Anniversary
Invitation 5th Anniversary

Dear friends,
We greet you with the usual pleasure, wishing you well.

This report reflects the activities carried out on important dates for the Mexican Alzheimer's Center, such as the recent celebration of our fifth anniversary on December 5.
The other occasions also reflect significant activities in the development of the project: Grandfather's Day, World Alzheimer's Day, Day of the Dead, Mexican Revolution Day and the presentation of the Effie 2023 Awards. We are pleased to share with you what we did on these special dates.

August 28, Grandfather's Day
It is a special day in Mexico that is dedicated to the elderly and we affectionately call it "Grandfather's Day". The activities developed on this day by students and staff of the Center with the support of family members focus on the dignity and inclusion of the elderly in society.

September 21, World Alzheimer's Day
From September 18 to 22 we held the 4th edition of our online festival "Connect to Alzheimer's" as part of World Alzheimer's Day, which is commemorated every September 21. There was a wide variety of activities from the Open House to learn about and participate in non-pharmacological therapy sessions both preventively and therapeutically to the evening Facebook live with the most varied topics, including seniors - with and without dementia, family members and caregivers and people interested in the subject.
A special day was Thursday the 21st, which we celebrated with a press conference where we unveiled the very moving short film The First Last Date, which was filmed with the wellknown actors Sergio Klainer and Sissi Ducoing. The post-conference activation raised everyone's awareness in a fun way!

October 31, Day of the Dead
On November 1 and 2, everything is prepared to receive the faithful departed, the first for the children and the second for the adults who have gone before them. Families place offerings in their homes with the 4 elements - fire (candlelight), earth (pots of Cempaxúchitl, a typical Day of the Dead flower), water (in a container) and air (chopped multicolored paper) - favorite food, candies, fruits, photographs and sugar skulls with the names of the family members. This night is a time to share with those who have passed away, remembering the stories and memories.

November 17, Revolution Day
On Friday, November 17, we brought forward the celebration of the Mexican Revolution, which is celebrated on November 20. The older people participated very enthusiastically and euphorically with the young people in the development of each number of the celebration that you can see in the attached program.
This type of reminiscence helps to evoke memories of youth and young adulthood.

November 22, EFFIE AWARDS 2023
The advertising and marketing industry presents the EFFIE Awards each year in 17 different categories. Centro Mexicano Alzheimer is honored to receive the award in the category of non-profit institutions with positive impact for Mariachiterapia, El Mariachi del Recuerdo campaign that took place in 2022 with the pro bono sponsorship of the agency MullenLowe SSP3 Mexico. Many thanks to the agency and the EFFIE organizers for this distinction!

December 5, 5th anniversary of the Mexican Alzheimer's Center.
FIVE YEARS - worthy celebration of the anniversary with a special film with a cause screening at Cinemex, to whom we are very grateful for their social commitment and support of social causes, the Chilean feature film La Memoria Infinita, followed by our short film and a discussion.
Under the moderation of Concha León Portilla, outstanding journalist and host of the radio program Enlace50, Sissi Ducoing, leading actress and protagonist of the short film, Markus Klöcker, First Secretary for Political Affairs of the German Embassy in Mexico, Lucero Vallejo, manager of Conciencia Cinemex and Regina Altena, president of the Mexican Alzheimer's Center, conversed with the audience. Almost 200 people enjoyed the films, were sensitized on the subject of dementias and were able to express their doubts and concerns.
Many thanks to those who attended the screening and to the Center's team for making such an emotional evening and celebration possible!
