Color Run part 2!

By Louise | Managing Director

Children's Rights March 2024
Children's Rights March 2024

As part of the fun with the Colour Run, we train the children on Children’s Rights and Child Participation. Many of the children who came to this year’s run were very new and very young, so we were not able to go into the depth of what we normally do.

Children’s Rights awareness is always a process, next year as we inculcate them into the Scouts program, learning about Children’s Rights and Child Participation is a part of the process. Next year they will be able properly understand.

After the colour flies, the children then walk throughout Burgersdorp Village singing and attracting attention from the locals. That is when the older scouts and rovers, who have been in the program the longest, stop and talk to the adults about Children’s Rights and Responsibilities but also encourage the adults to participate in scouting and send their children. The atmosphere is so exciting it really is.

It also provides KTD196 with more exposure, so that people are aware we exist and what we do, or at least a portion of what we do! We were expecting just over 100 kids but we ended up with over 300 which was amazing.

I hope you enjoy the photos. You have supported this work, it may just look like fun, but there is a lot of hard work involved in the behind the scenes joy. Your support brings such joy to the children’s faces! Thank you. We are very proud of the work we do, I hope you are as well.

Blessings

Louise
