Each year, we employ Chelo, Venel, and Junnot full-time to maintain and manage all of our existing water projects in Haiti, install new filters, and initiate new projects as they arise. This year alone, these three have installed over 100 biofilters, performed 1,600 follow-ups, maintained 8 water houses, and led our earthquake rebuilding efforts! They are leaders in their community and crucial to Poured Out's work in Haiti; we want to continue employing them and equip them to do even more!
This project will fulfill our funding requirements to continue paying Chelo, Venel, and Junnot for the entirety of 2022. In 2019, Poured Out transitioned each of these gentlemen into full-time employment as civil unrest gripped Haiti. Thankfully, we were able to continue their full-time gigs through the challenges of COVID in 2020. Now, we need your help to keep these three on payroll all year amidst the political turmoil that continues to make traveling to Haiti difficult.
This project will contribute to Chelo, Venel, and Junnot's salaries for five months. This arrangement will allow them to continue installing new biofilters, following up on existing filters, and maintaining all of Poured Out's existing water houses. In addition, the guys will scout new water house locations and respond to community needs as they arise. Over the past two years, they have initiated and led our COVID response and earthquake response with intentionality, leadership, and compassion.
In the long-term, this project will enable each of these guys to continue expanding Poured Out's clean water footprint in Haiti. Our biofilters and WaterHouses demonstrably provide immense health and psychological benefits to thousands of individuals across Haiti's southern peninsula. Along with furthering Poured Out's mission, your support will enable each water technician to financially support their family and community - the importance of this cannot be understated!
