Our young girls and women are growing up in a world that is normalizing violence against women. We must believe that our work can fight back.
This October, we will be re-activating this campaign. Our mission is big, but the cause is bigger. Young girls in Puerto Rico will grow up supported and inspired to believe themselves capable. Our young girls will understand the power they hold within their truest selves.
We hope that you can continue to be a part of this journey.

Update - June 2020

We were very anxious and hopeful about doing a different kind of project. This idea comes from one of our co-conspirators, that envisioned a different approach on how we do our work and join masses to our activism. Our vision is a future in which girls in Puerto Rico and the world can understand their value, knowing that the tools for their success lie within, in spite of what society might dictate.
Unfortunately for us, right after the Girl Fund was ready to announce the winners, Puerto Rico went into lock-down due to the Covid-19 emergency. We've been locked in for almost three months now, as a measure to lower rates of virus spread. Taller Salud, aside from doing advocacy and organizing work, is also a direct-services organization that works in the heart of our communities. As much as this Girl Fund project means to us, we made the decision to pause any course of action on such as we've shifted our work focus to the context of the current emergency.
At this time our top priority is ensuring the wellbeing of our communities and staff. Our offices have officially closed and are in the middle of some adjustments for a possible re-entry in the coming months. We are focusing on Covid-19 response, working alongside our communities to guarantee their advocacy, as well as to ensure basic needs are met such as gender-based violence intervention, community violence mediation, access to reproductive justice, as well as food, desinfectants and other priority items that have become unatainable at the moment given our current emergency. We are currently balancing our regular programatic work with our recovery response efforts with the same energy and commitment we've been facing the last three years of emergencies.
At the moment we do not have a short-term fundraising campaign for the needs of the Covid-19 emergency. If you'd like to connect with us to support our efforts, do not hesitate to write us through our e-Mail, web page or social.
As always, we are forever grateful and in awe at your commitment to our women and communities.

Our Emergency Fund for the sexual and reproductive justice has been a success! The amazing support of this campaign has led to the creation of 250 kits packed with sexual health items that will be delivered directly to affected women in the South as they remain displaced by the earthquake emergency.
This project allowed us to partner with other local organizations to identify key needs for our women in the Southern region of the Island, as well as to partner with local businesses to arrange the availability and purchase of products. Our kits contain items like Plan B, menstrual health items, prenatal vitamins, Vagisil and many other items. The availability of these resources can be a pivotal factor in the health and wellness of so many women and girls.
Thank you for your support of such a fast-paced and quick campaign. We will be forever grateful!
