An update on the children of Mwituria

The Children of Mwituria High School

At the end of 2018, you participated in our Year End fundraising campaign and supported us in our commitment to help us build dormitories for Mwituria High School to educate and safeguard 400 children.

We were thrilled to raise US$ 15,459 in a matter of weeks. Thank you!

Although we are still short of funds to complete all the dormitories, the school has taken some initial steps:

  • They have identified a classrom that will be temporarily converted into a dormitory so that the students no longer have to commute back and forth.
  • They have identified and secured the spot upon which the dorm will be put up.
  • They are in the process of hiring a contractor to start the building work.
  • There will be a meeting held on the 15th of February (tomorrow) with the various stakeholders to discuss the way forward: build a smaller dorm with the funds available or raise more funds to complete the original vision.

There is a new Headmaster at the school and he is very committed to complete this project as soon as possible. We are looking forward working closely with him to make this happen.

We will of course stay in close touch with you with any new development. This success wouldn’t have been possible without you, and we can’t wait to let you know how the project continues to develop.

Thank you again for your support and participation in this campaign.

A video update for you!

We have continued to raise more money for this project, thanks to our recurring donor who opted to give monthly to Ol Pejeta. As of today, our total raised is US$ 25,112 which is an amazing accomplishment.

Ol Pejeta is still very much on track to become 100% solar powered by 2013. We are not going to deviate from this very important task and we want you to know that you made a huge difference in helping us reach that goal.

If you have never been to Ol Pejeta, we hope that you decide to visit us one day and see for yourself the impact of your generosity. If you are interested in organising a visit, please email me on elodie.sampere@olpejetaconservancy.org and I will help you plan the trip of a lifetime!

In the meantime, I just want to make sure that you have watched our VIDEO UPDATE which we think is the best way to show you what you helped us accomplish.

Thank you again for being an awesome human being.

GG Accelerator | An update and a thank you!

The new solar borehole at Nyumba Nne
The new solar borehole at Nyumba Nne

In June, we asked you support to us in our commitment to becoming 100% solar powered by 2023 – putting the money saved from fuel straight into rhino conservation and community development.

We were thrilled to raise $24,685 in a matter of weeks – and we have some news for you.

Thanks to your generous donation, 127 new solar panels have been put in place and the solar borehole at Nyumba Nne is complete!

Watch this video to see the impact of your donation to Ol Pejeta.

This incredible success wouldn’t have been possible without you, and we can’t wait to let you know how the project continues to develop.

What inspired you to give to this campaign, and how did you find out about us? Please let us know in an email to elodie.sampere@olpejetaconservancy.org - we’d love to hear from you!

Thank you again for your support and participation in this campaign.
