We're pleased to share that our rhino population continues to flourish, with 165 eastern black rhinos, 46 southern white rhinos, and the last two remaining northern white rhinos thriving under our care. This increase in black rhino numbers and the ongoing presence of these critically endangered subspecies is a testament to the success of our ongoing conservation efforts, and it wouldn't be possible without your incredible support.
But our good news doesn't stop there! We recently participated in a landmark achievement for rhino conservation in Kenya. Through a collaborative effort with the Kenya Wildlife Service and other conservancies, we successfully relocated six of our critically endangered black rhinos to a new safe haven in Loisaba Conservancy.
These rhinos – alongside three from Nairobi National Park, and twelve from Lewa Conservancy – will now form the foundation of a brand new breeding population in Loisaba.
We are proud to have played a pivotal role in this translocation. The six rhinos we relocated were mature animals ready to start their own families. By creating space for them at Loisaba, we've not only ensured their continued safety but also freed up space at Ol Pejeta for younger rhinos to thrive. This responsible management cycle is crucial for the long-term success of black rhino conservation across Kenya and the recent translocation is a powerful example of successful collaboration in rhino conservation, and we are committed to continuing this vital work.
Thanks to your support, we are incredibly optimistic about the future of all rhinos at Ol Pejeta. From supporting our highly trained anti-poaching units to providing essential veterinary care for all rhinos, your contributions are the backbone of our conservation efforts.
Together, we are making a real difference for these incredible animals!
