Take One Minute to Support a Refugee Family

It’s no secret that almost four million Venezuelans have fled the country in search of a better future for themselves and their children. However, many Venezuelans who are attempting  to leave the country are blocked at the Venezuelan/Colombian border.

Due to the blockade of humanitarian aid, SAI has had to mobilize towards the borders with Colombia to assist the Venezuelans who are stranded. We have managed to get food and supplies for many adults and children who have not eaten for days.

We are working to improve the quality of life of every Venezuelan stranded on the border. For this reason, we thank all our donors for providing desperately needed support to help refugee families in Venezuela.

Thank you to all donors of GlobalGiving and SAI for supporting our cause. The information is reflective of the GlobalGiving and SAI campaign Venezuelan Refugee Fund.

Human Kindness Overcomes Adversity

Living in Venezuela is More Difficult with Every Passing Day

The recent power cuts, shortage of water, gasoline, cash, and life-saving medicines have caused total chaos in the country.

For most Venezuelans, these are the worst of times. There is one non-profit U.S. NGO that continues to provide support for those who simply cannot provide for themselves. This is the South American Initiative (SAI), with a team of staff and volunteers helping orphanages, hospitals, and animal shelters. These are the ones who need help the most.

Helping the Most Vulnerable

South American Initiative is committed to improving the lives of the most vulnerable people in Venezuela. For this reason, SAI has created a program called Helping Venezuela Hospitals to make, prepare, and distribute healthy meals and medicine to patients and their families struggling from severe lack of food and money. Each meal is paid for by donors who have shown compassion in aiding people who are hospitalized in Venezuela.

Food and Medical Supplies

SAI is distributing balanced, protein-rich meals and medical supplies to Let’s Give a Helping Hand to Venezuela. These meals are prepared under strict hospital regulations and are made specifically for the needs of each patient. In addition, much needed medical supplies are being distributed to improve patient care.

5,839 Nutritious Meals

In the past two months of April and May, SAI and GlobalGiving have provided 5,839 nutritious meals to those who cannot feed themselves: Let’s Give a Helping Hand to Venezuela.

Your contribution to South American Initiative makes the expansion of this project a reality. Your generous contributions dramatically increase the number of nutritious meals and medical supplies available for those people struggling during the current health and economic crisis.

Your Donations Save Lives

Volunteers and staff with SAI distribute food in hospitals to seniors who are unable to find food for themselves. Private donors from the U.S., Canada, UK, and the European Union are saving lives by donating to SAI which provides nutritious food and medical supplies for those living in poverty.

These pictures show your generosity in action making a difference in people's lives.

We Have A Big Heart For Animals Especially Those Abandoned & Neglected in Venezuela

The South American Initiative team (SAI), has a big heart for the abandoned animals of Venezuela. When a country experiences sudden poverty and famine,  the very first victims are our beloved family pets. When personal survival is a steak, family pets are often abandoned and neglected.

During a crisis like the one in Venezuela, too many animals do not receive the treatment and care they need to survive. It is for this reason that our team decided to start this project to provide these pets with the food, medicine, and other basic care products they need during these hard times.

With no relief in sight, SAI provides significant aid to our Venezuelan Veterinarian team to care for the abandoned and neglected pets in critical states of health.

For the past few months we have provided food and medical supplies to the following:

  • JANUARY: 105 abandoned pets have received care.
  • FEBRUARY:98 abandoned pets have received care.
  • MARCH: 90 abandoned pets have received care.
  • APRIL: 90 abandoned pets have received care.

Your contributions to SAI have made the expansion of our animal project a reality. Each month we continually increase the amount of food and medicine we supply to these abandoned pets struggling to stay alive during this economic crisis.

At SAI we want to sincerely thank each donor for their generosity in helping us improve the lives of abandoned pets in Venezuela. Without your help many would simply die of starvation and disease.

Thank you to all donors of GlobalGiving and SAI for supporting our cause. The information is reflective of the GlobalGiving and SAI campaign Helping Abandoned Pets.
