CHALLENGE: Every man, woman, and child is threatened by the COVID-19. This is a virus we cannot see, have no vaccine to prevent, no medicines to cure. COVID-19 does not discriminate between rich or poor, but it leaves the most vulnerable of society with nowhere to go and no protection. The goal is to prevent the spread of the virus by helping the most vulnerable: orphans children, older adults, the homeless, and those already suffering from severe illnesses and pre-existing medical conditions.
SOLUTION: By supporting this fund we can help stop the spread of COVID-19 and assist communities with resources they need to respond quickly to this crisis and protect the most vulnerable. This includes supplying doctors and nurses at the SAI medical clinic in Venezuela protective masks, latex gloves, ventilators, and protective gear to prevent the spread of the virus and take care of those already infected; delivering essential disinfecting and hygiene items for the self-quarantined.
LONG-TERM IMPACT: South American Initiative is deeply rooted within the local Venezuelan communities with medical facilities, volunteers, and staff on the ground.
