In the school break a sewing workshop was organized at the request of the young women of Fiarenana and Fiadanana, making use of our school buildings as the venue. Sewing their own clothes offers and opportunity for tailor made fashion and income generating activities that have been very successful, especially in the village of Tsaramandroso. We are very happy that a new generation of young women want to learn and we offer these trainings again. (See website)
Our second example illustrates, how many of our project are interconnected and teaching about microcredit playfully can become part of our schools curricula. This school year 2026/7, in the spirit of our Rural University, Zahana has invested in pig farming as part of the curriculum. We acquired two piglets for the children’s hands-on learning by doing project. Later, when the pigs are fatted up they will be sold to boost our schools funds. Playfully children will acquire an important skill they can teach to their parents, to boost the family income, and later in life, when they become parents themselves. Note: Raising pigswant to lea has become one of the successful cornerstones of our microcredit projects in the past few years. (Note: In Madagacar proc is considered special meat and often reserved for special occasions, while beef is the 'common' meat)
