LMF YOUTH FARMING REPORT 2023 March

By Mercy Egbuchulam-Onyianta | Project Leader

TO: Our LMF Esteem Heroes,

It is with great joy and pleasure that I bring to you “A Year in Review” for Lady Mitz Foundation. I am proud to tell you that, because of the kindness and generosity of partners like you and GlobalGiving, we were able to raise $11, 209.28 of our $50,000 budget in 2022.  It is because of your support that we were able to train 20 youths this past year on how to farm, feed oneself, family and community and eliminate hunger.  Thanks to your kindness, these youths were able to plant a maize farm. As well as grow, harvest and share their fresh farm produce with the community.

You are why Lady Mitz Foundation (LMF) continues to thrive and the reason behind the smiling faces of so many youths in the Umunoha community.  You didn’t just feed and train them; you have given them hope and a means of livelihood. They are now very happy and excited to go out and practice on their own, what they have learned this past year, and can’t wait for the rain to fall already so they can get started.  On behalf of the entire Lady Mitz Foundation Community, I give you a resounding kudos and a heartwarming thank you. I pray that God continues to bless each and every one of you more and more, Amen!

Our youths successfully completed their practical training on the farm (hands-on coaching and learning) last year in 2022.  They planted a corn farm, grew, harvested, had a feast with the community and shared their farm produce (picture are below).

Next Phase (The Goal for 2023)

Practice What You Learnt

Each newly trained Farmer will be assigned a little portion of LMF leased Farm land for their personal practical experience to use the techniques and strategies they have learned and make a mini- vegetable Farm of choice. They will choose a vegetable of their choice and also choose a volunteer to assist them who they will also coach on what they have learned.  They will have supervision from the Master Coach to make sure that they stay with Guidelines, schedule and keep routine and momentum going well. They following Schedule are in Progress.

1. Conference / Meetings and talks about what worked and what did not work /improvements

2. Partition of LMF Leased land Amongst individual youths to choose a vegetable of their choice and build their farm to represent their own practical experience of what they learned.

3. Choose a Volunteer partner from New Volunteers (3rd Cohort)

4. Sensitization and enlightenment of the youth farmers on the objectives and goals of the project

5. Land Clearing and Preparation

6. Training / Orientations for New Youth Volunteers

5 Procurement of farm tools.

  1. Planting and cultivation (After the Rain Falls)

We have entered the next phase of LMF Youths Farming to Eliminate Hunger Project and we can’t do it without your help and support. I Therefore, use this opportunity to make appeal and ask for your continued support during our upcoming April-Little-by Little Matching Funds Campaign. This campaign starts on April 3 -7, 2023 for one week and GlobalGiving will match each $50 donated to our project with $50 (50% ) per Donor.  When you donate $50 to our Youths Farming Project, it will get $100 and that will go along way to proving our youths with their needs to continue to thrive with the project.

Consistent support is the key to ensure ongoing impact. Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this worthy, ongoing project. Together we will keep impacting life one village at a time, Amen!

Once again, I thank you for your thoughtfulness, kindness and generosity.  You are LMF Team of Heroes and our youths are forever grateful to you, while you remain always blessed, Amen!

We will keep you informed about the progress of the project. If you have any comments, advice, or question, please feel free to direct them to us, and we will answer as best we can.
