Our LMF Team Of Heroes,
I am happy to bring you the progress report on our Youth Farming to Eliminate Hunger project for this next quarter, May 7, 2024.
Our 2024 cohort primarily consists of disadvantaged young mothers who have returned to the program from 2023 as it is their sole means of sustenance, and some are widows. The are still following themodified approach we put in place then, showcasing the techniques they had learned and the project's ongoing growth. They are working very hard and mastering the art of dividing farmland into mini-farms and employing a divide and conquer strategy as they divide up the land into mini vegetable farms.
The benefits of mini-farming extend beyond food production, contributing to both physical and mental well-being. We provide monthly stipends for their upkeep to meet basic human needs. They rely on this support to feed their babies, and we are able to make this provision because of your kindness. Thank you.
Land Preparation Prior to Planting
Our youths farmers are currently:
- Building bridges Making of beds, ridges, and mounds to protect crops from rain actions and possible flooding
- Making homemade manure and applying pesticides
- Building Nursery section for Garden eggs plants are nursed and Preparing for the Re planting of the mounds
- Pruning of trees to allow sunlight into the farm.
- Fencing and securing the farm is still ongoing with combination of palm fronds and old zinc sheets.
- Access control barrier has also been set up at the entry point/ gate.
- Planting and cultivation (after rainfall) Farm maintenance.
The youth depend on LMF and we depend on you to support our fundraising efforts. Our next fundraising campaign is GlobalGiving’s Bonus Day, on July 10, 2024. A one-day campaign to incentivize major donors with a tiered matching structure for donations $100 USD and up and a focus on major donors.
We also encourage you to consider monthly donations because besides guaranteeing available funds, year-round, new recurring donations earn a one-time 100% match after four months.
Consistent support is the key to ensure ongoing impact. Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this worthy project. Together we will continue to create an impact on people, one village at a time. Amen!
Once again, I thank you for your thoughtfulness, kindness and generosity. You are part LMF’s Team of Heroes and our youth are forever grateful to you. Remain always blessed, Amen!
We will keep you informed about the progress of the project. If you have any comments, questions, or input, please feel free to direct them to us, and we will answer as best we can.
