It’s Christmas time.
A time to reflect on the birth of the Messiah who was sent to earth for the salvation of the world.
In Luke 13:11-12 we read where Jesus, seeing the woman who was crippled by an evil spirit. She had been bent over for 18 years and unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity”. This was indeed a miracle.
Even thousands of years ago we see an example of someone being healed from a spine deformity, thus “set free” from suffering.
Why should anyone care?
Here is a quote attributed to Warren Buffet “If you’re the luckiest one per cent of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99 percent".
Today, we know there are millions of people living in under-developed parts of the world who will never be healed, never get married because of their deformity, therefore cutting off a branch from their family tree; they will have to suspend their education and their dream for a better future.
We are proud of the work Duncan Tree Foundation has accomplished through our spine program, launched in 2012. With the help of 90 volunteers, in 3 countries and 5 hospitals our teams work hand-in-hand with local hospital partners to manifest healing and create new life possibilities for patients suffering from spine deformity.
You might have seen previous reports where we've posted statistics outlining the almost 200 patients we’ve helped, hundreds of local hospital staff who have benefited from lectures, hands-on training and skills transfer, all volunteers told us they have returned home: better doctors, nurses, technicians, physical therapists and just better people. We are indeed blessed.
We are thankful for the support of every individual who has participated in, or witnessed the miracles performed by our volunteer surgical teams, we could not have the impact on the lives of those directly transformed by the work of Duncan Tree Foundation without you.
Today we continue on our journey to: bring healing to people suffering from spine deformity; bring teaching to local orthopedic residents, nurses and other hospital staff and; empowerment to everyone who benefits from our mission.
