Through our "Kids in the Middle" High School STEM pilot program focused on building up young people through mentoring and coaching, we connect with like-minded individuals and partners to support youth from under-resourced families who are directly affected by violence while still demonstrating an interest in STEM. The goal is to remove the barriers to a successful future and have these kids live more balanced, fulfilling, and purpose-driven lives.
New York spends an average of over $315 a day, or nearly $115,000 per year. In 2019, the poverty rate for minorities reached historic lows in their poverty rates in 2019; for Blacks, it was 18.8%; for Hispanics, it was 15.7%; the Asian poverty rate of 7.3% was also the lowest on record. However, except for the similarity between rates of Poverty for Asian Americans and Caucasian Americans, when compared to Hispanics and Blacks the rates are still 8.4%-11.5% higher than for Non-Hispanic Whites.
