As Border Partners enters the Spring of its 16th year working in the border community of Puerto Palomas de Villa, Mexico, we maintain our commitment to working alongside local schools to ensure healthy opportunities and activities for youth.
We believe it is important to work with kids at all stages of development, from those just beginning their education to those about to receive their diplomas. Last week, Border Partners hosted a career fair in a Palomas Kindergarten - nurses, firefighters, teachers, and community representatives came together to explain their work to the kids. Of course, they were also dressed the part!
We are also proud to announce that recently, we received grant funding to start our pilot youth center project serving adolescents across Palomas with programming that will serve them in their future careers, inspire creativity, and hone new skills while facilitating healthy social interaction and relationships. We plan to start classes in the youth center come July, when we will expand our commitment to providing summer programming for youth of all ages!
Your support for this work is invaluable, and we are grateful for each donation that goes towards helping us create more meaningful opportunities for youth in this underresourced region. Thank you to all our donors on GlobalGiving for their support!
