We are thrilled to announce that much has happened since our last project update - most importantly, that our Youth Center "Inspira" opened its doors to the next generation in Palomas in mid-May! This new space is dedicated to empowering youth to make positive changes for themselves and their communities through skills-building classes, creativity, connection, and personal development.
For the opening ceremony, we were honored to welcome community allies and leaders to the celebration, including local school directors, local politicians, and Border Partners staff, whose support was essential to making this project a reality.
The event included a flag ceremony by the secondary school honor guard, a dance performance by a student group, and the enthusiastic participation of our new instructors. Now in its second month, we welcome youth aged 10-17, four days a week, several hours a day to take advantage of our changing course offer at the youth center. We cannot wait to see where this project takes them next!
