During the last three months Border Partners staff and volunteers have been preparing grant applications and exploring other avenues for funding so we can open a Youth Center for kids ages 10-17 in Palomas. Our hope is to have this Center open six days a week for four hours each day beginning in May, 2025. It will offer skill-building classes, mental health counseling and sports activities. Participants will be encouraged to do service projects in the community, as well.
In addition to looking for grant funding, we are sending an appeal to our individual donor list highlighting our desire to fund the Youth Center. Little by little we have come up with some interested funding partners and hope to have a clear idea of funding available sometime during the winter. If we meet our funding goal of $100,000, we hope to open the Youth Center in late spring, 2025.
