Since our last report in March 2026, the Community Play Library (Ludoteca), coordinated by Corporación Organización El Minuto de Dios (OMD), has solidified its role as a protective environment that fosters the holistic development of children and adolescents in an area of the city of Quibdó, department of Chocó (Colombia). The facility is well-utilized, and the community's sense of ownership of the space has grown. The investment helped create and strengthen a setting where learning, play, art, sports, and technology serve as tools for the development of life skills, the building of relationships grounded in respect and peaceful coexistence and the overall strengthening of the abilities of young people to navigate the challenging environment in which they live.
The Community Play Library has established itself as a gathering space that fosters the positive use of leisure time, strengthens the social fabric of the nearby community, and helps increase protective factors against the vulnerabilities present in the area (such as poverty, high levels of violence and armed conflict). In this regard, the support provided continues to generate a sustainable social impact, aligned with the institutional model of Community Play Libraries and the principles of comprehensive protection and capacity building promoted by the Corporación Organización El Minuto de Dios.
With 50% of the resources needed to build the cancha deportiva (multi-purpose sports play area) secured, OMD set about obtaining the remaining funds required. In June, a regional partner confirmed a contribution covering the balance needed for the project. Steps were immediately taken to formalize the cooperation agreement and secure the partner's funding commitment. The project’s material and labor costs have been updated. There are currently two bidders; one will be selected shortly and contracted. The plan is for the work to begin in August.
