The mandate of our organization is to restore hope in the lives of the need and give information to people in our communities that will help them make healthy decisions for themselves and their families. We will be working with the local schools, youths and health centres on this Project. We will use participatory storytelling, videos to create awareness and break down stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B in Uganda. Participants will attend a multi-day training led by local professionals.
In Uganda and around the world, HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B positive individuals are increasing and subjected to severe stigma and discrimination. A biased perception of HIV/AIDs and Hepatitis B results in staggering outcomes for those affected, impacting youth's ability to connect with others and adhere to their treatment. As a result, many fear getting tested and treated for HIV/AIDs and Hepatitis B. With your help, this will change perception through storytelling, videos to create more fight.
Watching, listening to the videos, stories of others and telling stories of your own can be transformative. Give Hope Uganda will use participatory videos, storytelling to empower those who are HIV/AIDs and Hepatitis B positive, negative to those unaware and help them educate fellow youths in their communities on HIV/AIDs and Hepatitis B. After a training on how to create awareness through videography, photography, videos, storytelling and editing. Each story will focus on Youth's perseverance.
This project will provide a plate form for self-expression, creativity and peer-to-peer connection, empowering youths to see themselves as fighters instead of victims. Such a perception will have a long- lasting impact, if youths and their communities see HIV/AIDs and Hepatitis B in a different light, they will be more prone to seek testing, treatment and prevention services. Your donation for this project will go towards purchase of 5 recording devices, which will be used to repeat annually
