This project will run girl-led SRHR clubs for 2,000 girls ages 10-25 in Wakiso District each year. Trained peer facilitators guide girls through puberty, menstrual health, consent, and safe care access using film, What Would You Do? card game, and discussions built on girls' own questions. Every girl receives a Period Diary, an SRHR information card, and reusable sanitary towels so she can stay in school and know her rights.
In Wakiso District, many girls reach puberty without accurate information or a safe place to ask questions. Stigma around menstruation keeps them silent, and some miss school each month for lack of pads or confidence. Many cannot name their sexual and reproductive health rights or where to get care safely. Too often adults decide what girls learn, so their real questions go unanswered.
We will launch 25 girl-led SRHR clubs (5 in each of 5 communities) and run 4 cohorts a year, reaching 2,000 girls. Trained peer facilitators lead sessions where girls set the agenda. Each girl receives a Period Diary, an SRHR information card, and reusable sanitary towels. Funding covers facilitator training and stipends, printing, venues, and transport, and adult mentors are trained alongside the girls.
Girls will gain lasting SRHR knowledge, confidence, and leadership to speak up for their health and choices, with fewer missed school days. They will share what they learn with sisters, friends, and classmates, reaching thousands beyond the 2,000 girls we serve each year. Give Hope Uganda will build a network of trained facilitators, a growing library of girl-tested resources, and a curriculum that keeps girls' voices at the center of every cohort.
