VI. PROJECT REPORT “75 YOUNG SALVADORANS DEVELOP THEIR ENTREPRENEURSHIP (17382)”

Once again, thanks to Global Giving platform and donors; MOJE Association has been able to reach to more young Salvadorans who are in situation of social risk of our municipality Ilobasco, and give to them the opportunity to develop their human skills, entrepreneurial spirit and creative development in the arts and music.

In the frame work of the project “75 YOUNG SALVADORANS DEVELOP THEIR ENTREPRENEURSHIP” from February to April 2016, more than 50 youth and children have been actively participating of the Music for Life workshops, where they learn, practice and enrich their skills in the music.

The workshops have been taking place at the facilities of the Youth Center “Casa MOJE” we have been developing several workshops of Teaching-Learning of Creative Development in the art of Music on String instruments, wind and percussion instruments.

 

Main Objective of the Project

  • Promote the Art and Culture to the youth of Ilobasco through learning workshops in the area of the arts and music, involving the active participation of the young in the learning process. And thus, contribute to the prevention of violence that is affecting our young people in the Municipality of Ilobasco.

Specific Objective of the Project

  • Develop teaching and learning workshops in the area of music.
  • Stimulate the creative process and youth entrepreneurialism through workshops.
  • Raise awareness among the local population about the role of youth in their community by promoting artistic and cultural presentations.

 

Working Methodology

The approach of the classes will be playful, fun, and positive; therefore the methodology will be active, and the student will be the protagonist of their own learning. It will be used as a technique, "the guided discovery".

Likewise, it has been necessary that students enjoy with the proposed activities and assimilate the pleasure that produces listening, singing, interpret and understand the different genres of music from different eras and its cultural background and evolution.

The methodology has been 20% theoretical, 80% practiced.

 

Results Obtained

  • Two youth groups for Musical for Life workshops in stringed instruments. Each group has an average of 15 participants.
  • A group of youths for Musical for Life workshops in percussion instruments. With an average of 15 participants.
  • A group of young for Musical for Life workshops in the wind instruments. With an average of 8 young participants.
  • Cultural Diversity Workshop, with the aim of promoting the diversity of Cultural Expressions.  
  • Workshops for youth entrepreneurship and creativity where we seek to provide spaces for children and youth to express their dreams, interests and aspirations through the presentation of business ideas, cultural projects or enterprises.

V. PROJECT REPORT “75 YOUNG SALVADORANS DEVELOP THEIR ENTREPRENEURSHIP (17382)”

 In order to successfully contribute to the human development of our Salvadoran youth and children; under the project 75 YOUNG SALVADORANS DEVELOP THEIR ENTREPRENEURSHIP, from October to December 2015, 52 youth and children were trained and developed their human, arts and entrepreneurial skills.

The Training process took place at the facilities of the Youth Center “Casa MOJE” we have developed four workshops of Teaching-Learning of Creative Development in the areas of "Drawing and Painting" and "Ceramic, Modeling in Clay."

The main and specific objectives of these trainings were:

Main Objective

  • Promote the Art and Culture to the youth of Ilobasco through learning workshops in the area of the arts, involving the active participation of the young in the learning process. And thus, contribute to the prevention of violence that is affecting our young people in the Municipality of Ilobasco.

  • Develop teaching and learning workshops in the area of the arts, painting, drawing, and ceramics.
  • Stimulate the creative process and youth entrepreneurialism through workshops.
  • Raise awareness among the local population about the role of youth in their community by promoting artistic and cultural presentations.

 

Working Methodology

The methodology used in the development of the competencies was in a constructionist way where youth and children LEARN BY DOING, 20% of the training was given theoretically and 80% of practice.  

At the "Drawing and Painting" training the youth and children developed individual projects with the assistance of their teacher. Besides, at the "Ceramic, Modeling in Clay" training, the youth and children developed individual and groups projects having the assistance of their teacher as well.

 

Results Obtained

  • 39 Participants graduated in “Drawing and Painting”
  • 13 Participants graduated in "Ceramic, Modeling in Clay"
  • Motivation and Recreation Workshops, with the aim of promoting leadership, confidence and team work in youth and children.
  • 1° Art Gallery, where were exhibits of the art work done by the participants of the workshops for creative development, areas of "Drawing and Painting" and "Ceramics, modeling in Clay."

IV. PROJECT REPORT “75 YOUNG SALVADORANS DEVELOP THEIR ENTREPRENEURSHIP” 2015

      The following is a summary of the training “TECHNICAL TRAINING OF 15 YOUNG PEOPLE IN WOODWORKING, ORIENTATION TO THE WORK AND VALUES, AS DEMANDED BY THE COMPANY QUEIROZ GALVAO”, relating to the project “75 YOUNG SALVADORANS DEVELOP THEIR ENTREPRENEURSHIP.” The report we are presenting corresponds to the period from May 25 to June 6, 2015.

PLACE AND PERIOD OF THE TRAINING

The training took place in the town of Ilobasco in the facilities MOJE House Youth Center and had duration of 70 hours; in working days of 6 hours daily, from Monday to Friday and Saturday, in the period from May 27 until June 6, 2015.

OBJETIVES

General Objective

Develop technical skills in the area of carpentry which favor the employment of young people in the Department of Cabañas.

Specific Objectives

  • Develop core competencies in the area of carpentry, in 15 young people of the department of Cabañas to improve the economic conditions of them.
  • At the end of the process of training young people shall be competent to develop works of armor mold for masonry work.
  • Young people will be able to assemble molds in height, working on scaffolding.
  • Young people will be proficient in the knowledge and application of techniques to use tools and equipment for carpentry. As well as aspects of measurement and right cutting by applying occupational safety standards, demonstrating good vision, order, decision and responsibility.

METHODOLOGY OF WORK

"LEARNING BY DOING" was the methodology used during the training, was characterized by facilitating learning in the theoretical and practical, in a very participative way; achieving in the young abilities and wishes to develop the work assuming responsibility and commitment.

 RESULTS OBTAINED

  • At the end of the training the participants were able to obtain the necessary knowledge for the development of molds for construction and proper use of machines and tools for carpentry. Having basic skills young people are able to be inserted into the labor market related to the construction.
  • There were prepared different types of basic structures, frequently used in the construction industry, all this basis on the recommendations made by personnel of the QUEIROZ GALVAO Company, potential employer of young people.

      III PROJECT REPORT “75 YOUNG SALVADORANS DEVELOP THEIR ENTREPRENEURSHIP” 2014

        The present document summarizes the third report of the project “75 YOUNG SALVADORANS DEVELOP THEIR ENTREPRENEURSHIP”, which has supported 75 young people in technical training, human, and entrepreneurship of the Entrepreneurs School Program at MOJE. This report presents the activities carried out with young people who are in the last stage of the program that goes between the third week of November until December 2014.

 In this training initiative were actively involved 66 young:

  • 42 youths in the professional cooking area
  • 17 youths in the bakery area and
  • 7 youths in the graphic design.

         Besides, other 94 young people received training on the technical areas of Administrative Assistant, Cosmetology, Electronics and Beekeeping. All of them have received training in the areas of Business Management and Life Skills at the Entrepreneurs School at MOJE; making a total of 160 young people who have successfully completed the training process at MOJE.

 Thanks to the funds collected in the campaign “75 YOUNG SALVADORANS DEVELOP THEIR ENTREPRENEURSHIP” at GlobalGiving, the youngsters who were attended at the Entrepreneurs School program at MOJE have had the opportunity to receive a better attention in the technical, human and business areas.

 ACTIONS TAKEN

Participation in the Fair of Achievements

       As a means to implement the comprehensive training received in the technical human, entrepreneurial and creative components, young, from different areas of training participated in the fair of achievements "Young Entrepreneurs 2014" In this fair the youth revealed what has been learned, exposing to the public small business initiatives in cuisine, pastry, silkscreen, beekeeping and fruit-growing. This event was held in one of the main and commercial arteries of the city of Ilobasco as a way to flatter a market environment.

     Another group of young people held demonstrations in other technical areas such as electronics, cosmetology, mechanical bank and administrative assistant. Some of these young people were invited to a job fair developed by the Ministry of Labor making fit in some job to several of them.

      Once completed the process of training at the Entrepreneurs School, the participants concluded their education with the graduation of more than 160 young people. In this act the young received the corresponding diplomas certifying them in their respective technical training areas.  Below is a the details the young graduates in the different areas of training.

II PROJECT REPORT “75 YOUNG SALVADORANS DEVELOP THEIR ENTREPRENEURSHIP” 2014

INTRODUCCIÓN.

MOJE is presenting the second project report of “75 YOUNG SALVADORANS DEVELOP THEIR ENTREPRENEURSHIP”, in which 75 youths are being supported with trainings on the technical, human and entrepreneurship areas. This report presents the activities that we have done with the youths who are in the second stage of the training, which runs from August to November 2014.

In this training initiative are actively involved 66 young:

  • 17 youths in the Bakery area and
  • 7 youths in the Graphic design.

The youngsters cared in the Entrepreneurs School have had the opportunity to receive a better attention in the technical, human and business areas, thanks to the money collected in the campaign “75 YOUNG SALVADORANS DEVELOP THEIR ENTREPRENEURSHI” at GlobalGiving which served to optimize resources for basic equipment and improving the training spaces.

ACTIONS TAKEN

TECHNICAL TRAINING

The young participants in the professional cooking, pastry and graphic design have been continued their training in the stages of specialization and design of product or service. These last two stages of training is done in a view that young people can be inserted in a job or in the world of entrepreneurialism, endowing them with basic tools to assist them in the integration in the labor market.

Professional Cooking

The two groups of young participants were trained in the preparation of various dishes of the international cuisine such as Spanish cuisine, French, Italian, Argentine, Salvadoran and Central American cuisine among others. Additionally, the youths have received training on how to prepare different types of desserts and beverages.

 Bakery

The young people of this area learned at this stage more advanced techniques for the preparation of desserts both savory and sweet.

 Here is a summary of skills views of the area:

  • Salvadorian pastries
  • Mexican pastries
  • International Pastry
  • Development of products based on puff pastry
  • Cakes based on fruit jelly
  • Cakes with chocolate, vanilla and caramel.

 Graphic Design

Young people who are trained in this area strengthened their capacity of drawing techniques with more advanced techniques of this discipline. Subsequently, they learned about the proper handling of tools of manipulation of the image with the use of specialized software. Afterward, they learned how to manipulate the equipment for the printing of the products created by them. In this final stage learned different techniques of screen printing.

 A summary of the contents referred to is that you shown below:

  • Introduction to Digital Graphic Design.
  • Fundamentals of Photoshop.
  • Basics of Adobe Illustrator.
  • Advanced Photoshop.
  • Advanced llustrator
  • Foundations of Digital Design.
  • Introduction to the screen printing.
  • Flyers and banners design.
  • Packaging design.
  • Design oriented to screen printing.
  • Advanced Techniques of screen printing.

 LIFE SKILLS TRANING

At this stage of training young people strengthen their social skills, cognitive and attitudinal factors on competencies such as communication, sexuality, conflict resolution and decision-making; so, the last intention of these subject-matters in the sense of clarifying and to develop personal skills, value and opportunities that represents a good practice of the skills for life.

 Following, we describe some of the competencies learned between the month of September and November:

  • Communication: Identify and use the components of communication allowing understanding and be understood with the interlocutor.
  • Sexuality: Discuss with participants the desires, social pressures, information and fears in the first sexual relations.
  • Decision-making: identifying and implementing practice decision-making skills.
  • Conflict Resolution: To identify and use appropriate procedures for the solution of problems.

 BUSINESS MANAGEMENT TRAINING

In the business management training young people continued developing their entrepreneurial skills through practice firms. We have created 22 companies of practice to simulate in a learning environment conducive to the necessary competencies for the knowledge and its management. In the Phase III of the training, each of the companies of practice creates their business plans starting from the name of the business to the initial investment in the company.

 The contents covered in this phase are:

  • What is a business and types of companies?
  • Functional Areas of a company.
  • What is a business plan?
  • How to name a the company.
  • Business Description.
  • SWOT Analysis.
  • Business Strategy.
  • Marketing Plan: product, price, place and promotion.
  • Factors that affect human relations in the associativity.
  • Costs, initial investment and working capital.
  • How to maximize the use of equipment and tools.

 USE OF RESOURCES

 The funds raised in the campaign have been very support for the purchase of raw materials and school supplies to enable young people to develop practices of professional cooking, bakery… which has meant a qualitative step to provide a better attention to young people.

 Thanks to the contribution of the 42 donors who have supported us through the GlobalGiving platform, the opportunities are strengthening to improve the economic situation of young people who are part of the Entrepreneurs School Program at MOJE.
