You can Light a Candle too-University Scholarships

Dear donor,

CYDD gives university scholarships directly to girls previously receiving high school scholarships from CYDD and who succeed in the university exams. 2021-2022 university entrance exams were held on June 20^th and results will be announced on July 20^th. This year 1210 high school scholarship students graduated from 12^th grade and we are waiting for their exam results. We hope they will be successful in the exams with the additional educational support we have given during the school year.

During 2021-2022 we have given scholarships to 13420 university students. In 2022-2023, the yearly scholarship amount we give to students will be increased by 40% due to the high inflation rate we are facing, but with your support we wish to continue giving scholarships to new university students.

For the school term 2021-2022, 8697 female and 4686 male students received university scholarships. 1708 of these students started university this year.

Many of our high school scholarship students do not have the means to go to private university preparation courses and their success in university exams is not very high. Last year, we started a new Project called “from high school to university” partnering with Saryer Academy.

The female high school students in 12th grade and others who have graduated previously were accepted to these courses given by Saryer Academy and the study material already paid by Cydd was also supplied. For these on-line courses, Cydd also provided notebook computers to some students.This year we have seen incredible results of this Project and of the 2000 high school graduates , 662 female students were successful in the university exams and enrolled. 405 high school graduates of previous years were also successful . So a total of 1067 new female students started university this year.

This is a 38 % success rate that doubled the rate of previous years which on average was about 17%.
