You can Light a Candle too-University Scholarships

Dear Donor,

At Çagdas Yasam Destekleme Dernegi (ÇYDD), we believe that supporting a young person's education means much more than helping them remain in school. Education gives young people the opportunity to develop their knowledge, confidence and sense of responsibility—and to become active contributors to society.

Our university scholarship program helps students continue their higher education while also connecting them with a wider community of young people who believe in solidarity, participation and social responsibility.

A powerful example of this broader impact was the 28th Türkan Saylan Youth Congress of Contemporary Youth which brought together 153 young people from 84 ÇYDD branches across Türkiye. Over four days, participants discussed the challenges facing the country and developed ideas and solutions together. The theme of the congress was:

“Being Young in the 21st Century: A Generation That Is Part of the Solution, Not the Problem, Designing the Future.”

Through intensive sessions, table workshops and R&D presentations, young people were encouraged to think critically, exchange ideas and develop solution-oriented proposals for a contemporary and democratic society.

At the congress, young people from different parts of Türkiye came together to share their perspectives, listen to one another and discuss the future they want to build. Talks, panels, documentary screenings and interactive activities allowed participants to learn from academics, professionals, artists and ÇYDD alumni.These experiences help young people strengthen important skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking and participation—skills that are essential both for their future careers and for an active and responsible society.

The young people who receive educational support can become graduates, professionals, volunteers, mentors and leaders who contribute to their communities and inspire others.

The Youth Congress showed this potential in action: 153 young people from 84 branches coming together not simply to discuss problems, but to develop solutions and imagine the future they want to create.

This is the long-term impact we seek through our university scholarship program.
