For the past few months we have an open invitation for the Proud Moms who have been through our programme to visit at Edwina Gateley with their children. Doreen, our counsellor, and coordinator, Dalmas, are on hand to spend time with the young women individually and as a group. Various issues are discussed and if need be solutions looked for.
The Proud Moms also are given the opportunity of doing some paid work in the form of house keeping or laundry at both Edwina Gateley House and the next door St Martins. Refresher sessions are carried out with the young women in relation, to nutrition, parenting and other matters.
The presence of the young moms and their children brings a vibrancy to the atmosphere at the compound each Thursday. Last Thursday with our WOWs, Proud Moms and the team we have over 30 spending the day in the compound and sharing breakfast and lunch together. We also said farewell to the Patrician Brothers who have been spending Thursdays with us since the start of the year. From next month the young novice brothers will be on a 5 month training. We look forward to the next group joining us in 2027!!
