First Quarter of 2025 Updates
By Lucia Paz | Internship Student

Weekly meetings at the Opportunity Home
During this first quarter, we have not had anyone leave the Opportunity Home and therefore, we have had no admissions. However, we have some exciting updates:
-
One of the women who has been living with us the longest is actively searching for a room, with the support of one of our internship students, in an effort to leave the Home soon.
-
Another woman has successfully formalized her work permit and is now actively looking for employment — a crucial step that brings her closer to achieving her goal and moving on from the Home.
-
Lastly, one of the younger residents is about to begin a course in delicatessen training and is very excited about the possibility of building a future in that field.
We’ve also placed special emphasis on the importance of recycling within the household. While it wasn’t a common practice in the past, awareness is steadily growing.
Thank you all for your generosity! Your support makes this all possible!

End of the year activities

During the last quarter, in mid-October and late November, we had the departure of two of the Ukrainian women who lived in the home. After almost two years (since they arrived after the war), both managed to complete their process with us and, although we continue to support them monthly with food, they now live on rent in Madrid. In the photo, one of the two women appears on the day we helped her move. Also, and in light of this event, we welcomed two new women who have joined the project with a great desire to improve their living situation. We are happy to be able to help more people next year!
In December, we attended the impressive circus show that “Circlassica” organizes every year at IFEMA (Madrid), where different women were able to enjoy a fun-filled event. In the photo, several women from our home appear, some accompanied by friends, and the project worker.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

A Great Summer!
By Guillermo | Director of Social Housing and Opportunity Home

Dear Friends,
During the last quarter, we have enjoyed the summer with an activity organised by our organisation, which involved giving individuals and families with children who had never been to the beach the opportunity to visit and swim in the sea. Two women from the Opportunity Home took part in this activity and enjoyed the whole experience.
Furthermore, one of the women from the Opportunity Home secured a job as a lifeguard in a private swimming pool, and has been working all summer. Two other women are starting their training courses now in September, eager to finish their studies and get a qualification that will make it easier for them to access the labour market in the future.
We still have all the places filled, but we are working to ensure that two of the women who are reaching the end of their journey in this project can leave as soon as possible.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who make these experiences and achievements possible. Your support makes a real difference.
Until next time,
