Support Educational Equity for Bay Area Children

As students return from their winter break, we remember the joy they felt only four months ago when they first received their backpacks at the beginning of the year. But the school year is half over; students and teachers alike are running low on supplies with little funds with which to replace. Students coming into a new school half way through the year without the tools they need, teachers running out of basic supplies to fulfill mid-year needs.

Luckily, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our community in 2018, Family Giving Tree was able to distribute extra backpacks and school supplies that are able to fulfill the constant need in our partner schools. Your support means students like those at Burnett Middle School are able to focus on school work and learning instead of worrying about running out of paper or losing their only pencil.

As of today, through the 2018 Back-to-School Drive, you have provided 37,000+ students from low-income families with the tools they need to complete assignments and homework and help them to feel confident in the classroom. We wanted to pass along their thanks to you. 

While you may not experience the results firsthand, the impact of your generosity creates a lasting imprint not only on each child and their family but also on the future of our community as a whole. When generations of students are prepared to learn and find joy in their education, the community benefits from their talents and skills. It's not an immediate outcome but it is worth the wait.
