In the spring, students and teachers are thinking about the end of the school year; however, Family Giving Tree is already planning our Back-to-School Drive to prepare low-income students for the first days of school in late August. While many factors contribute to the cycle of poverty, providing a backpack filled with essential school supplies removes a socioeconomic barrier for these students to engage in their education.
Because of the generosity of our community, the Back-to-School Drive has provided backpacks to over 240,000 students in need over the past two decades, making Family Giving Tree the largest backpack distributor in California.
Partnering with more than 300 schools in Silicon Valley, our goal is to provide 40,000 low-income students backpacks filled with essential school supplies this year. Your help is crucial to this endeavor. In the coming months, community support facilitates backpack deliveries to Family Giving Tree’s Back-to-School Warehouse for distribution to schools across the seven counties in the San Francisco Bay Area.
You can support the Drive in two ways: make a donation online or shop for a backpack and bring it to our warehouse in August. Your support of Family Giving Tree is an investment in the future of the Silicon Valley community.
