Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu has provided yet another wheelchair to a paralyzed man living in an urban slum. Along with the wheelchair facility, their needs were assessed and other necessary help was also provided to the family.
Disabled people living in slums are often neglected when it comes to services for the handicapped. They do not have access to different services and there are no people to help them. Their families would mostly be poor forcing them to ignore the medical needs of the disabled person. Charitable organizations that care and recognize their needs are their only ray of hope. Providing a facility like a wheelchair would help them in various ways and would also help their caretaker look after them with much more ease. They would also be able to do small tasks and other activities related to daily living independently. They would no longer feel like a burden to their family which would have a great positive impact on their mental health
