When speaking up felt tough, *Shyam let his ideas do the talking.
Shyam, a 15-year-old from Assam, is a class 9 student who has always been curious about how things work and how they can be improved. Talking in front of others has not been easy for him, but he found his own way to express himself; through science and innovation.
His turning point came when a STEM Lab was set up in his school under Project Oil Jigyasa, an initiative by Oil India Limited and implemented by CRY. With the right tools and mentorship, Shyam started working on an idea that could make technology more accessible. He designed an Offline Voice Controller Module that allows people to control devices through voice commands without internet connectivity.
What began as a rough idea soon became a working model. His persistence and creativity earned him the first prize at the district-level inter-school science exhibition and the opportunity to represent his school at the state-level competition.
Even though communication in words has been a challenge, Shyam has shown that expression comes in many forms. For him, it comes through innovation, focus, and courage. Today, he dreams of becoming a software engineer and continues to build, experiment and learn. His path reminds us that true grit and passion can open every door.
