At just 12 years old, *Prisha faced challenges that would break even the strongest adults - alone.
In the remote village, Prisha’s childhood was overshadowed by hardship. Both her parents struggled with alcoholism, creating a home filled with instability and neglect. When her mother left to stay with relatives and her father spiraled deeper into addiction, Prisha was left to navigate life on her own. While her brothers attended school and her younger sister went to the local anganwadi, she was left behind and overlooked.
Instead, she was forced to work as a caretaker for a family in the village, looking after their child just to survive.
That’s when CRY’s project team stepped in. They visited her home, urging her father to see the consequences of his choices and the opportunities Prisha could have with education. At first, he refused to listen, but the team didn’t give up. With the community’s help, they finally convinced him.
Prisha was freed from work and enrolled in an Ashram school, where she found not just education but also the support she had long been denied.
For the first time in years, she was back in a classroom, holding books instead of baby bottles. Now, she could dream of a future filled with possibilities—one where she was free to learn, play, and grow, just as every child deserves.
