WCC aims to provide children and young people in Sierra Leone with improved quality of life and access to up to date educational services.The focus of the school will be educational development and health awareness. WCC will use sport, drama and other arts activities as a tool for engagement, along with strategies and programmes to engage and enhance knowledge retention and growth. The project will assist 5,000 children over the 3 years of the project.

In are in the process of building a permanent residence which is required to sustain a foundational and positive environment for the development of our students future. The need to secure the future of the school for the benefit of the community is vital. Losing funds on paying rent does not provide investment opportunities to develop the school properly, and this is the reason for seeking a permanent residence. We intend to expand to an additional 100 students, and the growth of the physical site is of the upmost importance.

The Interventions

The project is going to intervene with the following activities:

Construction of the WCC Academy Building

Construct a new school building containing classrooms, a kitchen, toilet facilities and bathrooms using locally sourced sand, cement and workers.

Provide primary education to 500 orphans and homeless children aged 5-14 years old.

Equip the school with educational resources such as books and stationary as well as tables, chairs and a blackboard to aid effective learning.

Build an adjacent healthcare centre which is accessible to each of the community’s 20,500 inhabitants. This will be funded through future endeavors and contributors.

Offer extracurricular activities such as sporting activities and field trips.

WCC water project (Sierra Leone)

There is a desperate need of water supply in Sierra Leone. Many people, especially women and girls have to walk 3 to 4 miles every day just to fetch water needed for their households. In addition, the water these people collect from the streams is sometimes unhygienic and unsafe for drinking due to upstream contamination. To remedy the issue, WCC aims to construct five water wells in the community adding to the one already donated as an approach to counter the poor access to water.

The communities in Sierra Leone are in dire need of water supply. Many citizens of Sierra Leone, especially women/girls have to walk 3 to 4 miles every day just to fetch water needed for their household. Moreover, the water that they fetch is contaminated, leading to numerous water borne diseases. Therefore, the WCC water project will provide safe drinking water which in turn breaks the vicious cycle of poverty, enhances child health development and strengthens community partnerships. The water project aids in overcoming the water crisis and also in overall development by offering an alternative.

In order to meet the above objectives, Kamaray FAMILY donated 4 acres of land situate, lying and being at Maboikandoh Village, Newton, Ward C aforesaid to WCC and shall execute a deed of conveyance in favour of WCC when required to do so; WCC shall construct a primary school, health care centre for mothers and babies, football pitch, staff quarters and resource centres on the said land.Upon execution of this MoU which we have completed, WCC has also survey the said land and the Kamaray Family through Madam Rita Kamaray who is in the porcess of executing the conveyance in favour of WCC.Each of these building projects will have access to clean water suppply . WCC building projects aim to start in September 2019.
