Haiti schools still need safe water!

By Bill Farrar | Founder and Executive Director

Purifier installed in St. Louis De Nord, Haiti.
Purifier installed in St. Louis De Nord, Haiti.

Fountains of Hope has installed 1 of the 10+ systems in Haiti.  We are looking to raise the remainder of the funding through Global Giving so that we can help more schools and school children obtain safe drinking water.  Each purifier system can help more than 500 children and adults with all of their daily water needs.  Our purifier can purify up to 3,600 gallons of water per hour using a cup of salt, water and a 12 volt battery.  Through electrolysis, the salt is turned into chlorine which is used to disinfect the water.  The water is drinkable 3 hours after letting the chlorine gas-off.  This is a very safe, easy and cheap method to purify major quantities of water.

Many people are not aware that 54% of the wells previously installed in Haiti are contaminated with cholera, bacteria, micro-organisms.  This occurs when outside sources contaminiate the aquafer underground.  Fountains of Hope comes alongside those schools who already have a well but cannot drink from it because of contamination. We install a water purifier system that can purify the water and make it drinkable in most situations. (exceptions would be excessive arsonic or flouride in the water.)

Help us to get over the hump and raise the funds necessary to help the additional schools we've identified.  Many have been waiting for over a year to get their systems.  Help fund this project today by clicking on the donate now button. Thank you!
