Summary

Moppet Foods, a women-led early years food company in Nigeria, is converting its own production waste into clean energy and biofertilizer. A modular biogas digester will process up to 73 tons of factory waste each year, replacing LPG, cutting 171 tons of CO, and lowering costs by 15%. It will also produce 62 tons of biofertilizer to support 50+ farmers. Donors will help create jobs, empower women, and build a greener food system.

Challenge

Every day, Moppet Foods, a women-led early years food company in Nigeria, struggles with growing piles of organic waste from production. This waste pollutes while the factory depends on costly LPG, raising prices for families and fueling emissions. At the same time, local farmers lack access to affordable fertilizer, leaving fields underproductive. Without change, women, children, farmers, and the planet continue to lose.

Solution

Moppet Foods will install a modular biogas digester to turn its production waste into clean energy and biofertilizer. This will replace costly LPG, cut harmful emissions, and lower food prices. The biofertilizer will boost yields for 50+ smallholder farmers, while creating jobs and proving how women-led innovation can build healthier, greener communities in Nigeria.

Long-Term Impact

In the long term, converting Moppet's factory waste into energy and biofertilizer will cut 171 tons of CO yearly, reduce food costs, and boost harvests for 50+ farmers. Families gain access to affordable, nutritious food while farmers grow stronger livelihoods. By proving a women-led, waste-to-energy model, this project tackles pollution, rising fuel costs, and poor yields-benefiting thousands of people across the community for years to come.
