Financial illiteracy and fiscal irresponsibility were two of the most important and frightening issues to emerge from the global financial crisis. In the years that followed the financial crisis, Malawi among many nations around the world conducted studies and it was concluded that in order to prevent future crises, youth between 15 to 35 must be taught entrepreneurship and vocational skills for them to rid youth unemployment and reduce poverty within their communities.
Malawi has 23% youth unemployment rate and most of those employed serve in low quality jobs rendering them vulnerable to various social problems. Most youth lack information, knowledge and opportunities in entrepreneurship on how they can become innovative and create businesses that will serve as a catalyst for poverty reduction.Enabling this will result in increased access and prioritizing on entrepreneurship education for the youth fostering innovation and diversity in the economic development
We support 100 youth through the community hubs entrepreneurship and vocational skills training, mentorship and market linkages to support themselves and their communities. When the youth are empowered they will invest in job creation creating opportunities for other youth and developing their communities through infrastructure development, education support and availability of food hence reducing poverty.
Economic opportunities and empowered youth will serve as the transformation leaders for stable communities, country's trade competitiveness as well as identify opportunities for increased youth employment in high-potential value chains within the economy hence addressing the socio-economic challenges in Malawi.
