We provide health care, education and balanced meals to 400 children in a poor slum in Caracas during the COVID-19 pandemic. The success of the Foundation started 23 years ago and is based on the life stories of more than 550 alumnus who have achieved differentiating goals through formal education. The true significance is that they emerge from marginalization and enter the productive society by accessing formal jobs.
Our goal is to educate, feed and keep 400 children healthy every year. In 2020, we will accomplish our objectives in spite of the world COVID-19 crisis. This has been a challenge for us, we have changed our procedures and are reaching 100% of our students and we are providing the necessary resources so they can keep learning, being healthy and well nourished. The solution to achieve the goal is describe in the following formulas:
1) Distance Learning formula: Providing our teachers with cellphones and paying the associated expenses + Training our teachers through tutorials focused on distance learning + Delivering school supplies to the students. 2) Balanced Daily Diet formula: Providing food on a regular basis. 3) Health Care Formula: Providing personal hygiene & cleaning items to students and families + Telephone medical assistant to patients + Medical outpatient center open twice a week + Facilitating health workshops
The Foundation Madre Maria Luisa Casar action focuses on a lifelong intervention, within the condition of extreme poverty of a student community of 400 students and their families, so that they can access the productive world of work inside and outside of Venezuela. The situation requires us to adapt and continue honoring our commitment to Colegio Jenaro Aguirre and its surroundings within one of the largest neighborhoods in Latin America.
