A year ago, The Ark Foundation started a campaign (Van for shelter for abused women and children), to raise
funds to purchase a vehicle for its shelter in Ghana. This was as a result of the inability of the organization to purchase one with limited resources, and the need to transport survivors (clients) to and from the shelter, to the hospital, police, and courts and for emergency
purposes such as rescuing survivors or medical emergencies.
The target set was $20 000 covering the acquisition of the vehicle and other operational costs such fuel, maintenance, salary for a
driver, fumigation, insurance among others. With the support of benevolent donors on this platform, a total of $900 has been raised. The Ark, also, through its internal fundraising activities got support from a benevolent institution in addition to acquire the vehicle. Although the campaign was to acquire a van, an SUV was acquired due to the in prices of vehicles in the country and the money at hand.
Since its acquisition, he vehicle has facilitated the safe and secured movement of clients to
and from the shelter and also to respond during emergency situations. We look forward to receiving more support to cover the other costs operational costs.
