TREATMENT OF PEAHEN CAUGHT IN KITE STRING:-
This peahen was brought to our hospital 2 weeks ago with sharp kite string entangled on her legs.
The poor bird had been suffering for the last few months but she couldn't be captured earlier.
Now sadly as the sharp threads had started cutting into her legs she had started getting weaker.
Our avian vet immediately set about to removing the strings and seeing how much damage there was to the leg.
Thankfully she was walking with just a limp.
We started her on mild antibiotics and physiotherapy to help with the circulation of blood in her legs.
It was brought to our attention by the society people that she was entangled in these thread soon after Diwali.
As it turned out people while cleaning their houses throw their garbage very carelessly around after the festival of uttarayan .
And as a result this poor bird was just another one of the victims who got caught into one of these harmful manjas(thread) lying around.
We kindly requested the local community to refrain from just "throwing out" your sharp manja and other sharp wastes anywhere.
Instead we instructed them to put them in a plastic packet and dispose them properly inside a bin,
This is for throughout the year and not just during and after Uttarayan.
We made them aware to be more responsible in future and also create sensitivity and responsibility among their neighbours as well as others too!
Dear Donors! Kindly donate generously for maintaining our hospital and carrying out our work smoothly for years to come.
