This project seeks to offer urgent humanitarian aid to the war survivors in Goma, Bukavu, Uvira and Kalemie in DRC who fled the ongoing war. The UN estimates that DRC has more than 10 million IDPs, and this war has pushed more than 1million person away from their home, they lack food, medicine, shelter, clean water, clothes, among others. Currently Uvira and Kalemie cities which host new arrivals from Goma and Bukavu are hit with Cholera because IDPs were not helped, as NGOs also fled the zones
The Democratic Republic of Congo continues to face issues that push people to flee their homes such as flooding in Kinshasa, Tanganyika and Maniema but also the current wars in Ituri, South Kivu and North Kivu. At this moment because of war most of international relief agencies organizations also fled towards neighboring countries and all IDPs are left alone, in the hands of host communities who also have been IDPs and too poor. DRC Government has no interventions on ground, this makes worse.
This is a life-saving project to ensure we stop the number of those dying now, so we are proving access to first aid medicine, create awareness and provide hygiene items to people in the communities, offer people food, construct temporal shelters, provide access to clean drinking and cooking water, sensitize people to apply positive health habits, provide people with clothes and shoes. This project will also offer medical treatment to those with wounds and to all the sick people especially IDPs.
We shall save lives and help people to live once again, and therefore it may help them to become resourceful persons in their communities, as long as people are not dying in big numbers this will contribute to family stability, as people avoid being infected by diseases they families may develop and as long as people are not affected by hunger they can easily plan for the future. In short this will restore the dignity of IDPs and become the starting point to rebuild their lives.
