A Young Man’s Life Saved….
Just last month we learned of a 19-year-old young man who had swelling of his leg just below his knee. The swelling increased almost daily and the pain in his leg was beginning to become unbearable.
Thanks to your support to Olalo of Hope-Kenya’s urgent medical project, your gifts helped cover some of the costs we incurred traveling from hospital to hospital, the multiple CT-scans, MRI’s, x-rays and many doctor consultations.
Ultimately it was determined he had an extremely aggressive type of bone cancer. This caused the doctors to move quickly and his leg was amputated to save his life. He will begin chemotherapy in a few months.
The evening just after his surgery, he called to thank everyone for helping him. We couldn’t believe he would contact us especially so soon following surgery! He was so grateful and thankful that the excruciating pain he had been experiencing was gone and finally he would be able to sleep.
It is going to be a long and tough road for his young man to navigate, but he has a strong will to thrive and recover.
Your gifts to Olalo have played a large part in saving his life. Thank you for your faithful support! Because of you, lives in Oyugis Kenya are impacted!

We are so Thankful for you and your support to Olalo of Hope-Kenya’s Urgent Medical Care Fund!
During a recent visit to Kenya, a severe injury occurred to a local young man playing in a soccer tournament over in the next town. It was quite the physical game, as always, but this time when he was slammed to the ground by the other team, he landed hard and couldn’t get up...couldn't move.
We got the call back in town inquiring if we had the funds to hire a taxi to bring him back to the hospital for treatment. The team had traveled to the game on the back of motorbikes and bringing the injured player back that way was impossible.
Thanks to you, the funds were available to hire a taxi to bring him back to town and cover all his hospital expenses. The drive to the hospital was long, bumpy and uncomfortable due to miles of road construction. It certainly didn’t help with his pain level.
X-rays were taken and thankfully nothing was broken, however he spent days in the hospital unable to walk and even sit up which was very concerning. It was painful and lonely for him but at least the pain medication helped to take the edge off his pain...as long as he didn't move.
Eventually we were able to carry him home to rest in his own home and complete his recovery.
If there had not been a medical fund, he probably would have recovered at home eventually though enduring severe pain throughout his recovery. He was lucky his injuries were not worse.
Others sustain injuries that won’t improve over time without medical intervention. Sadly were that the case, many would not recover or be left with a lifetime of disabilities or incapacity.
We are thankful this was not the case with our young soccer player and he did receive medical care.
We are so grateful for you and your generous support for the lives you touch through the urgent medical care program. Thank you for giving the gift of healiing and hope!

As I prepare to head back to Kenya in a few days, I want to take this opportunity to THANK every one of you who has given the gift of life and health through your donations to Olalo of Hope-Kenya’s Urgent Medical Care project.
You have allowed Olalo to step in and assist when medical help was needed. You have enabled Olalo to help people of all ages….babies and adults, young and old; people like these…
An 18-month old in the hospital suffering with meningitis; or a new mother suffering with complications from a c-section.
The number of days combined that they spent in the hospital is 12. Twelve days.
The total bill for both…everything included…$229.01.
Doesn’t take a lot to impact so many lives in need of Urgent Medical Care in Kenya.
It would be nice to say at some point the need to cover medical costs will be gone, eliminated, never needed again…but, even here in the U.S. where we have the best medical care, medical events will always occur, interventions will continue to be needed.
Heading back to Kenya soon will bring new needs to light, many coming to ask for help for themselves or loved ones. It is with your continued support we will be able to meet as many needs as possible.
And for that, we Thank You for allowing us offer hope, health and life through your generous support!
Nyasaye Odwedhu!

His father told us, if it hadn’t been for Olalo of Hope-Kenya, his son would have died.
What that really means is, if you, our faithful supporters hadn’t been gifting Olalo with Urgent Medical Funds, this young life would have ended! But thankfully, here is another life you have helped save!
It wasn’t too long ago we told you about the two-year-old child who had been run down by a motor bike and was left unconscious. The local hospital referred him to a larger hospital and so we transported him by ambulance to the other location.
After finding a slow brain bleed, he underwent surgery and then remained in the hospital for another 10 days to recover and be observed.
Soon after surgery he was sitting up, eating and responding normally to his parents and the doctors.
Thankfully he soon went home, fully recovered and went on with his life as an active 2-year-old child.
We have you to thank for that!
When you partner with Olalo of Hope- Kenya you impact and save lives!
Thank You for touching so many lives and being part of the Olalo Family.

All of us at Olalo of Hope-Kenya are ALWAYS so thankful we have funds available when the calls come in to help with Urgent Medical needs. There’s only one reason we do…and that’s YOU…our amazing folks who donate to our medical fund and give us the go-ahead for saving lives.
Thank You to every one of you!
The most heart-wrenching requests that come in are asking for help for children…babies, toddlers, young children who are ill or injured. Seems like we’ve had our share of those recently and I’d like to share with you two of our most recent.
Just 2 weeks ago an Olalo team member noticed a distraught family outside the local hospital. After inquiring to see if he could assist, he learned their two children were on their way to school when they were hit by a car. They had no money to get help from the hospital...but Olalo of Hope did!
The 10-year-old suffered broken and bruised ribs, broken toes on both feet, bruises, scrapes and possible head injuries. Her 7-year-old brother was killed. Such a sad and devastating loss for this family.
Due to your support, Olalo was able to cover all the hospital costs as well as covering the fees for eight follow-up checks through the next month. Thank You!
Just this week, Olalo was alerted to a mom at the hospital with her 2-year-old son who had been run down by a motorbike. The child was badly hurt and unconscious. A head scan was needed but had to be done at the next town. The family had no money and didn’t know what they were going to do.
Olalo was able to secure an ambulance to take the child to the other hospital and pay for the scan as well. Two days later, the boy has regained consciousness and is talking. The scan shows he has a slow brain bleed. At this point in time, that is all we know for sure.
One thing we do know and are certain of; that is because of your generous giving to Olalo’s Urgent Medical Fund, we will be able to provide what is needed for this toddler to hopefully recover…and with your continued help will be ready to assist with the next Urgent Medical need.
Thank you for making this all possible. Your gifts to Olalo not only bless and help those in need of medical care, but also their entire family. (not to mention all of us at Olalo of Hope-Kenya who get to actively participate and help the families.)
Thank you, and God Bless!
