Dear Donor,
The latest Ebola situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to demand sustained community preparedness and humanitarian attention.
According to WHO's latest weekly situation report, covering data through 20 September 2026, the DRC had recorded 7,733 confirmed Bundibugyo virus disease cases and 3,732 deaths, representing a crude case-fatality ratio of 48.3%.
ECDC's subsequent update, based on data through 21 September, reported 7,773 confirmed cases and 3,759 deaths, with 1,935 people having recovered.
Development Alert continues strengthening community preparedness around this evolving emergency.
Our efforts emphasize early reporting, health education, hygiene promotion, risk communication, cooperation with trained health workers and preparedness among communities connected to affected areas.
The scale of the outbreak also reminds us that emergency response cannot focus only on treatment. Prevention, surveillance, community trust and rapid communication are equally important.
We continue encouraging communities to take health concerns seriously while avoiding panic and misinformation.
Your support helps us keep community preparedness alive at a time when thousands of families continue to be affected by this outbreak.
