Supporting Community Cooperation With Contact
By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader
Dear Donor,
Thanks to your generous support, we continue encouraging communities to cooperate with contact-tracing teams and understand why follow-up is necessary after potential exposure.
Contact tracing can help health teams identify people who may have been exposed, monitor their health, and arrange appropriate assistance if symptoms develop. Community trust is therefore essential.
Our awareness work emphasizes that contact monitoring is a protective public-health measure rather than a reason for fear or stigma. We encourage families to provide accurate information and communicate openly with health workers.
The scale of the task remains significant. ECDC reported that 78.7% of identified contacts in affected DRC provinces were under follow-up as of the latest reporting period.
Your support helps strengthen the community cooperation that makes surveillance and contact tracing possible.

Strengthening Household Infection Prevention
By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader
Dear Donor,
Thanks to your continued support, we are helping families understand how everyday household practices can contribute to Ebola prevention.
Households are important environments for prevention because family members often provide care when someone becomes sick. We encourage families to seek professional guidance when illness is suspected and to avoid direct contact with bodily fluids without appropriate protection and guidance.
We also promote regular handwashing, household cleanliness, prompt communication with health workers, and responsible handling of information about suspected cases.
These simple measures can help families reduce unnecessary exposure while waiting for appropriate assistance.
WHO continues to identify household and community transmission as important challenges in the DRC outbreak, particularly where delayed detection allows transmission to continue.
Your contribution is helping place Ebola prevention directly within the homes and communities where it matters most.

Expanding Community Awareness for Ebola Prevention
By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader
Dear Donor,
Thanks to your generous support, we continue expanding community awareness activities designed to help people understand how Ebola spreads and what they can do to reduce exposure.
Our approach focuses on practical information that families can apply in their daily lives. Community members are encouraged to practice hand hygiene, recognize concerning symptoms, report suspected illness promptly, cooperate with health workers, and avoid unsafe contact with body fluids.
Accurate information is particularly important during a prolonged outbreak because fear and misinformation can discourage people from seeking care or cooperating with response teams.
The current Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo remains active across multiple provinces and health zones. As of 29 September, 8,224 confirmed cases and 3,982 deaths had been reported.
Your support is helping communities transform information into practical prevention.
