The Association of Zambians in Belgium wants to thank all our partners and donors for the support towards our project of upgrading compassion orpharnage this year. 2020 was a special year but 2021 is even more special. The lives of countless families have become more miserable due to dramatic increase in poverty and covid 19. Children in Zambia have become victims of the Corona crisis and they are living in fear of what they don’t know. More and more children are becoming orphaned as a result which is taking us back to the days of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
However, The Association of Zambians in Belgium together with the orphanage team have continued to carry out activities which have impacted the livelihoods of the the orphans and the surrounding villlages despite the Corona crisis posing a challenge. The vegetable garden and the poultry project have produced enough food to sustain the orphanage and the nearby community. As a result, a new project at a nearby school has been started. This is a programme to provide nutritious meals for children who live in poverty and come to school hungry.
The beneficiaries of our projects are so happy and involved and have affirmed the value of the project in the long-term which they felt justified in the short term cost. The orphanage team has articulated clear sustainability strategies as well. There are several activities lined up this year which are very much behind schedule because the Corona pandemic.
For this reason we can not stop thanking our donors for the generous support because without you, we can never achieve this. Let me assure everyone who is part of this project through your financial support, you are saving lives of more than 200 people in Luwingu district. We as a team are happy to continue giving updates with sincere thanks for your solidarity.
The Association for Zambians in Belgium wants to pause a little and say thank you for the support during the fundraising campaign of December 2020. Which went a long way to support compassion opharnage. We thank each and every donor for your donations made during the campaign. That raised our hopes and expectations and confidence as we look forward to activities in 2021 in the middle of the corona pandemic.
The compassion opharnage team are so grateful for the support of our donors and volunteers. The orphans were shocked and amazed that they were being given such an awesome opportunity.
First it was the water project, now the chicken run for the poultry project, and the vegetable garden as you see in the pictures.
Your donations have given the children pride and unrelenting motivation because you believe in them. We are so thankful to the donors as you. This has encouraged us to try new projects In the near future.
As our work continues. we sincerely hope you will stay involved. Your support keeps our mission going.
